The One About the Surprise Visitor . . .

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine came to visit, and to meet Alissia for the first time.  We had a lovely time catching up, then all too soon it was time for her to go.  I opened the front door, and there was next door's dog who tried to get in!  I have never liked dogs, or when they jump at you on your legs.  But with Alissia in her bouncy chair in the front room I had to do something, I couldn't have the dog getting to her.  Millie kept trying to push her way through the gap of the open door, but I managed to keep her at the door, and eventually got her out onto the pavement outside.  Then I started hammering on for next door to come and fetch the dog because I couldn't look after her all day!  Next door eventually came to the door, and said she didn't even realise the dog was out!  It's quite lucky that I opened our front door when I did because we live on a busy street with some little shops, and there are always cars pulling up outside.  Normally the dog is only allowed out in the back yard which is completely fenced in.  So we still can't work out how she got out in the first place!  I really hope that she doesn't try to visit again!  When she's been in the back yard before, and I've had to put the rubbish out she's got in the house and run round the kitchen, and into the front room!  I wasn't best pleased that day, especially as I was cooking dinner at the time.  I have also caught her peeing on my flower beds before now - so she isn't my favourite animal.
This story is brought to you for Sian's Storytelling Sunday.  Make sure you check out her blog where they'll be lots more stories!

It's always a worry to see dogs out on the street - I am glad you could get this one home safely ... hopefully her owners will secure their yard from now on.

Hope your visitor doesn't come and visit again - strange dogs and babies are not a good combination.

It's amazing the courage you can summon up when you are a parent, isn't it?!

I like dogs, but wouldn't be best pleased at an uninvited one trying to get in..Sian's right, we discover new courage when we have our children!

I like dogs, but on TV or on pictures! At least, this dog is not like my opposite neighbor's dog who poops on my yard constantly!
Have a nice Sunday,
Cheers from France

I can imagine your alarm but you dealt with it very bravely. He looks so innocent in the photo too!

I can't imagine trying to defend an infant against an unwelcome pup - although I did manage to remove a bat from our house once that was scaring my daughters - but it kind of makes me feel sorry for the pup - how lonely he must be if he is leaving his own yard and owners looking for someone to pay him attention.

No matter whether you like dogs or not, another persons dog trying to get into your house would be scary! It sounds like it could do with lots more exercise and training. Smaller dogs require more exercise than most owners realise. I am glad you got is sorted.

She has such a innocent look on her face! Hopefully the owners will be a bit more vigilent and it won't happen again.

Thank goodness you found her before something awful happened! amazing how brave we become once we become a Mummy! probably in the minority but I think your 4 legged friend is cute but then I would LOL, hope her family take better care of her and you don't get such a scare again and well done Gem for protecting your wee one and the hound. xxx

Well, I'm not a fan of strange dogs either, but I have to say she looks appropriately penitent.

I'm glad the dog came to you and didn't get run over. I'm a huge dog lover but wouldn't like another dog to try and get in my house.

Gemma, not a dog realted comment but a rather belated congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I didn't realise I'd been missing so long. It might take me a while to catch up but from what I can see she is absolutely gorgeous. Keep on enjoying your time with her xx
